Shannon Rowing Club- without the rowing

I chose to write my blog post on the Shannon Rowing Clubhouse because I played a gig there for a Halloween Shindig, hosted by the good people in the  UL Music Society. Myself and four of my classmates formed a band about a month ago and so any opportunity to gig is snatched up instantly! The line- up, according to the Society, was:

Rogue

OGC (us)

Milk Baby

Gin n' Juice

(Maybe) Stone Tailors

+Special Comeback Quests!!

The Club House- at night!

The club, according to the website, is the "oldest rowing Club in Limerick City", but this does not show as you walk through the well- kept front area into the lobby. The place has been kept in very good condition for its age and the sight from the balcony/ smoking area is fantastic at night. The club has a very informative website, which you can view at the bottom of this post.

So anyway, the gig started with a band called Milk Baby, who won the Music Soc Battle of the Bands the Monday before last, so they were a great opening act. The next band followed, and finally we got on! I couldn't wait to play our shiny new setlist which we had written that day! (That's preparation for ya) We played quite well, and all of us were happy with the sound, but unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to finish earlier than planned. That said, I still had a fantastic night and the music played was brilliant. Met some other band members over the course of the night and some interesting banter was had!

OGC in action!

Anyway, that's about all I have on that one, but to really get the same idea you really have to go to a gig in the Boat House, I highly recommend it!

You can find out all you need to know about the Club on their website. You can learn to row, view galleries, and more.
